ORAL SURGERY
We’ll take you as far as the modern standard of dentistry can take you. We perform various types of oral surgery including wisdom tooth extractions, implants and tissue grafting, and the extraction of broken or infected teeth.
WISDOM TEETH
Your wisdom teeth are the teeth farthest back in your mouth, located in both the upper and lower jaw; dentists refer to these as third molars. Most patients do not have ample room for wisdom teeth.
When our jaws do not provide room for the addition of wisdom teeth, they often become trapped within the bone or gums, which is called impaction. Often times our teeth will attempt to create space for themselves, which can cause future issues if not addressed. The following problems can arise, as most commonly seen in young adults:
- Crowding of your other teeth
- Creating cavities on the teeth directly in front of your wisdom teeth
- Creating cysts or infections within the jaw bone due to bacteria that can accumulate around the wisdom teeth
To best protect your oral health, we may recommend removing the third molars at a young age. This way, there is a lesser chance of problems ever arising. Extracting wisdom teeth at a young age means that the root has not fully developed, thus making the teeth easier to extract and speedier recovery for our patients.
EXTRACTIONS
Dr. Ed understands that the tooth removal process can be daunting and intimidating. To alleviate the stress associated with the procedure, Dr. Ed and the AEIR Dental Team use state-of-the-art equipment and techniques to ensure that you feel zero anxiety and absolutely no pain before and even after the tooth extraction is complete – at AEIR Dental, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
We believe extractions shouldn’t be stressful and it is our goal to provide our patients with the highest quality services, without the stress and anxiety usually associated with this process.
Tooth Removal Procedure
Before your appointment is even scheduled, Dr. Ed will perform a comprehensive examination of the affected area. A 3D digital ray will be taken to help identify the shape, length and position of the affected tooth as well as the surrounding bone and teeth. Dr. Ed will recommend either a basic or surgical extraction. In most cases Dr. Ed will be able to perform most extractions at AEIR Dental clinic. If he feels a surgical extraction is necessary he will refer you to one of our handpicked dental surgeons who we see fit to assist you with treatment based on the severity of your case – either way, the procedure will be comfortable and painless.
We understand any type of dental procedure can create feelings of anxiety, so our team is available to answer any questions and address any concerns you have. This can help ensure your fears are calmed and you are confident tooth extraction is the best option for your situation.
If tooth extraction has been recommended, you should not wait to have it done. The situation and pain you are going to experience is only going to get worse as more time passes. Let us help you get the relief you need and deserve by providing the professional services you require. We are trained oral care professionals and help ensure your procedure is painless and successful.
IMPLANTS
Dental implants are the best option to replace missing teeth. They are anchored into your mouth and are permanent. Unlike bridges, no teeth need to be prepared or shaved down. An implant consists of 3 parts. First a titanium screw is surgically placed into the jaw, which acts like the root of a missing tooth. Three to four months later, an abutment (post) is placed on top of the implant screw and finally a crown, bridge or denture is cemented on top of that. Implants are a great option for one or multiple missing teeth to ensure your smile is at its finest.
Implants allow you to laugh, bite, and chew just as you would with your natural teeth. Currently it is our most conservative approach to replacing missing teeth.
